THE NEW “TRUTH MEDIA” MANIFESTO

WE ARE NOT THE ALTERNATIVE. WE ARE IT.

I HAVE BEEN WRITING AN ARTICLE THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ARTICLE I AM WRITING HERE WHEN A NEW AND AN INCREDIBLE REALIZATION OCCURRED TO ME. WE, ACTIVISTS AND INDEPENDENT MEDIA PRODUCERS AND INDEPENDENT THINKERS, HAVE TO REDEFINE HOW WE REFER TO OURSELVES. BY REDEFINING HOW WE REFER TO OURSELVES AND HOW WE ARE REFERRED TO, WE WILL DISEMPOWER WHAT WE CALL “THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA”. WE WILL DESTROY THE POWER RELATIONSHIP CONSTRUCTED BY “THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA”. THE IRONIC REALIZATION IS THAT THE TERM “THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA” IS WHERE WE HAVE TO START BECAUSE THIS TERM MAINTAINS THE POWER RELATIONSHIP CONSTRUCT. PLEASE ALLOW ME TO EXPLAIN.

THE COMMUNICATIONS METHOD I AM ABOUT TO DISCUSS, AND THAT IS USED TO MANIPULATE OUR (INDEPENDENT THINKERS’) PERCEPTIONS OF OURSELVES AND OUR AUDIENCES’ PERCEPTIONS OF US, AND TO DISCREDIT OUR VIEWS, IS NOT A NEW METHOD. HOWEVER, IT HAS BEEN DEPLOYED, SO COVERTLY, BY THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA THAT WE (THE INDEPENDENT THINKERS) HAVE BEEN USING IT OURSELVES ON OURSELVES TO MARGINALIZE THE VERY IDEAS WE ARE TRYING TO PROMOTE.

WHENEVER WE CALL THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA “THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA” WE ARE EMPOWERING IT. IT DOES NOT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING TO MAINTAIN ITS GRIP ON US BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN SO GOOD AT CONDITIONING US THAT IT HAS FORCED US TO PERCEIVE OUR VERY OWN SELVES AS A MARGINAL ENTITY. WE OURSELVES HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO REALIZE THAT WE CANNOT THINK OF ANOTHER NAME FOR THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA . JUST BY CALLING IT THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA WE ARE SUGGESTING, TO WHOEVER IS LISTENING OR WATCHING OR READING, THAT WE ARE NOT THE MOST IMPORTANT, THAT WE ARE NOT THE MOST RELEVANT, THAT WE ARE NOT THE REAL THING, THAT WE ARE NOT THE MAIN THING. BY USING THE TERM “THE MAIN STREAM” WE ARE SUGGESTING THAT THERE IS THE ‘MAIN’ THING RUNNING THE SHOW. THAT WE ARE THE ALTERNATIVE, BUT WE ARE NOT THE ALTERNATIVE. WE ARE IT. WHAT IS IT. IT IS THE TRUTH.

WE MUST STOP THIS SELF SABOTAGE.

HOW DO WE STOP IT.

I PROPOSE AN OFFICIAL REDEFINITION OF THE TWO KEY TERMS. “THE INDEPENDENT MEDIA” AND “THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA”. I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT WHAT THE TWO TERMS MEAN.

WE CALL OURSELVES INDEPENDENT BECAUSE WE DO NOT DEPEND ON CORPORATIONS , GOVERNMENTS OR OTHER CORRUPT INSTITUTIONS. WE SUPPLY THE TRUTH REGARDLESS OF THEIR INTERESTS. BUT, AND MANY OF YOU MIGHT NOT AGREE WITH THIS, THE TERM INDEPENDENT CAN BE MISLEADING. IT CAN BE MISLEADING BECAUSE IT CAN SUGGEST SOMETHING UNUSUAL, TOO OUT OF THE ORDINARY. THAT IS WHY MANY PEOPLE THINK “THE INDEPENDENT” IS NOT AS IMPORTANT AS “THE MAINSTREAM”. NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH. WE ARE NOT INDEPENDENT OF ANYTHING. WE FIGHT FOR EVERY HUMAN BEING, EVERY PLANT, EVERY ANIMAL. WE ARE NOT WORKING INDEPENDENTLY OF ANYONE OR ANYTHING. WE ARE ALL INCLUSIVE. WE ARE FIGHTING FOR LOVE AND PEACE THAT IS MISSING FROM PEOPLES’ LIVES. IT IS BECAUSE LOVE AND PEACE ARE MISSING FORM THEIR LIVES AND THEY DO NOT REALIZE IT THAT THEY ARE CAPABLE OF PERFORMING GREAT EVILS.

NATURALLY, I HAVE COME TO REALIZE THAT WE SHOULD REFER TO OURSELVES AS “THE TRUE MEDIA OR “THE TRUTH MEDIA” AND “THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA” AS “THE MISINFORMATION”.

I AM GOING TO PROMOTE THIS NEW TERM ON EVERY OCCASION. WE MUST STOP CALLING THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA “THE MAIN STREAM” BECAUSE BY DOING THAT WE DEVALUE OURSELVES. THERE IS NOTHING “MAIN” ABOUT IT.
FURTHERMORE, WE MUST STOP TALKING ABOUT THE CHANGE WE ARE CREATING AS THE FUTURE TENSE. WE ARE NOT GOING TO BE THE CHANGE. WE ARE NOT GOING TO CHANGE THE WORLD. WE ARE THE CHANGE. WE ARE MAKING IT HAPPEN NOW. WE ARE WORKING ON THIS EVERY DAY. WE ARE NOT WAITING FOR A NEW SYSTEM. WE ARE BUILDING A NEW SYSTEM NOW. IT IS HAPPENING NOW. THAT IS WHAT WE ARE REPORTING. THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO ARE READY TO SAY OR DO ANYTHING IT TAKES TO CREATE A BETTER WORLD.

False and true systems and ideas

The less we know the more we depend on others’ definitions of everything without being able to realize our dependence on them. There is no way to end our dependence on external sources of information and external ideologies until we become aware that we don’t know how to observe and analyze events on our own.

It is so hard for us to observe and analyze events because we have not been given an opportunity to learn how to use our senses. From early childhood we are forced to fit into thinking and behavioral patterns that perpetuate the system. Instead, we should be encouraged to use our senses to look for inner and external truths in all thoughts and actions, in order explore ourselves and the universe. But we accept lies for the sake of fitting in thus perpetuating the status quo.

We negotiate this self ignorance and self denial by attempting to change the status quo by blaming different institutions and others instead of learning how to shape our own thoughts and actions. Institutions, even the biggest and the most powerful institutions in the world, are made up of individuals who are just like ourselves.

So, the question remains, how can we break the bond between what we define as the mainstream media, the mainstream products, the mainstream ideas, the mainstream lifestyle and the truly positive, healthy and personal choices. I think the answer is by making it clear that there is nothing MAIN STREAM ABOUT THEM.  They are not the mainstream things because they are not good for all beings. Only those who create them and control them benefit from them. Those who create them and control them have defined them as the mainstream things in order to convince us that they are good for us so that we would buy them so they can create a profit.

There is no ‘mainstream’ and ‘independent’. There is the truth and there is the lie. Systems and ideas designed to benefit only those create them and control them are false and system and ideas designed to benefit all beings are true.

Teaching the truth, not asking for a change

It is not important to try to change anyone or anything, and it is not important to try to convince anyone of anything. The important thing is to search for the truth in everyone and everything and it is important not to stop searching for the truth despite any obstacles, despite any discomfort it can create. Because it is that search that will reveal the true intentions of every person and every situation you encounter. When discovered and exposed, the true intentions and the true actions will speak with more precision and will provide a description of that person that exceeds anything that the person would be willing to tell you about themselves or would know about themselves. And that ultimate truth, whether it is wanted or not, will create a change.

I think, while it is useless to try to change people or their ways in any way, what we have to do is reveal what makes them the way they are, what makes us what we are, and record it, and that will help future generations learn about themselves and therefore change our civilization’s perceptions of itself.

The more wrong the person is the more convinced they are that what they are doing is right because their perception and definition of the reality is so removed from the true reality that there are no links of any kind to the real truth of any kind or the real nature of the universe. Look at Hitler. He was so wrong yet it was impossible to convince him that his entire ideology was based on his inability to deal with his own psyche, his limitations, that he was unable to accept his fragile human body. Nothing could have changed him. But in that very sad fact, which is his ignorance, is our greatest lesson. Not only did he never learn the truth about the meaning and value of life, he designed his own reality, surrounded himself with people who would encourage it, and decided to destroy anyone who opposed it.

That is exactly what groups, families and clans, parties, clubs, societies, nations, and countries do. And until all of them accept the ultimate shared truth which is that we are ‘human’ and share ‘humanity’ and have to face and acknowledge our good side and our bad side, there will be no love and no peace.

Academic approaches are too academic to create practical changes

I am finding that the ideas put forward by the academics, regardless of their positive intentions, are too academic to be of any use in the real world. I am a person who likes to write but I am beginning to realize that we do not need more books. Books are useful, but we do not need more new ideas because most people do not understand what the new ideas are asking them to do or how to do it. We need action and SIMPLE STEP BY STEP PLANS TO GUIDE PEOPLE TO THE RIGHT ACTIONS rather than complex political, business, economic or social ideas.

When I say simple, I mean unusually simple. Step by step guidelines that can fit on a single A4 page. Guidelines that will tell people if A + B does not add up to C then something is wrong with your food or your local city council or your employer and you determine what is wrong by examining your A and then your B and then trying to determine why it’s not giving you a C. The more complex an idea is, the fewer people are going to be able to understand it. The less understanding people have about an idea or an event, the more they revert to what they know, their original perceptions and behaviours, which are wrong, hence no change.

What makes academic ideas so complex? The inherent problem, found in all academic writing or academic presentations, or any other forms of highly educated form of communication or presentation, is that the academics  or the highly educated person who is communicating cannot discuss a theory or an idea or an event without referring to another theory and the theory they referred to will be referring to another theory. This applies to any area, business, health, policy, engineering, food, anything. This is the nature of scientific thinking and research. What this means is that the audiences’ base knowledge will have to be significant. They have to be well educated. This is a problem. Most people are not well educated and are not familiar with any theoretical framework of any kind. Many are not educated at all. Like I said, many people  do not understand what the new ideas are asking them to do or how to do it. I think that this is why many, many independent documentaries and online or paper publications fail. The ideas offered are too complex to be taken on board by the target audience then executed because they are written by highly intelligent individuals.

For example, I read about many new green technologies and ideas. How to build a greener house, use less energy, recycle garbage, eat healthier food. What I notice is that as soon as the well meaning writer makes his suggestions he or she starts to talk about chemical processes, energy conversion rates, mathematical calculations, eco systems, complex ‘systems relationships’ or how one element can affect all the other elements of all the other systems and so on. While it is necessary to explain why a new idea, or a technique, or a product is valid, the explanations have to be extremely simple.

In fact, the new product or an idea should be presented in a manner that is so simple and self evident that it requires no explanation of why it is more useful than the old product or process. THIS IS WHAT THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA DOES SO WELL. They advertise cars, pills, guns, clothes, and millions of other things without trying to explain why you should buy them. They show you the kind of pleasure you will experience, the end result, but not how or why. You know that the car will provide a smooth ride over a bumpy terrain and that the new seat will be extra comfortable but you are not asked to understand the complex physical and chemical processes behind it. We do not need to create another kind of mindless consumerism but we do need to simplify how information is presented.

How do we solve this problem. We need to create content that is ‘closed’. Articles written so that after you read them you are not left wondering what the concepts, or formulas, or graphs or data used mean or what the hell are they referring to. In other words it is a self contained unit of information that does not require the reader to hold a PhD in order to understand its operating principles.

It’s especially important to stop comparing new products and technologies and especially green products and technologies to current technologies. It is an automatic turn off for most people. Why? Because as soon as you start by saying this green car uses fifty precent less fuel than this particular petrol powered car you are going to criticize all the people who already own that petrol car and because people don’t want to be criticized, especially if they can do something about it, they change the channel and your audience is gone. It is better to present the new product and all its potential without referring to the old product.
